Designed in London
We talked to Rupert Han, founder of Kew Labs about the design of the new K1 and he told us…
“My long time friend Nick Collins happened to be working around the corner from me in a graphic design studio in West London. So when I was looking for a designer for this project, I was excited to turn our lunch chats into real ideas. We saw that most speakers in this price range were dull, all black and uninteresting. So we decided to release a collection of speakers instead of a one colour fits all model straight away launch. The four colour designs in the K1 collection reflect a range of different styles we felt represented certain aspects of urban life. The metallic silver, and gunmetal grey pair give a more classic industrial look, while the red and yellow designs offer a bolder more graffiti like statement. All different in taste but all related in design and branding. While future products are already being designed elsewhere, the K1 wireless speaker definitely owes a lot to London so we felt it appropriate to state that on this particular product and look to change it up in the.”
